Hello! Welcome to the Revel Studios Blog. We are new to blogging and are super excited to share our creative journey with you so that you can get to know us a little better. We will be featuring new couples on the blog monthly to showcase both photography and cinematography for weddings and engagements as well as advice and tips on how to make your wedding day extra special! We want this blog to showcase our work and what we offer but we also want to add value to share our knowledge with you and what we have learned over the years. We have worked with so many couples that get overwhelmed with everything that goes into planning a wedding and we are hoping we can help simplify the journey!
But first, I want to tell you a little bit about our journey and what inspired us to create Revel Studios. For years I had my own photography business (this is Robin btw) and I was photographing everything…. Weddings, headshots, portraits, corporate gigs…. Basically, anything to make money without having to do anything else but photography! After my son was born in 2011, I took some time off from weddings. The idea of planning anything so far in advance gave me anxiety as a new mom and I just didn’t want to add one more thing to my plate. When I was ready to get back into weddings, I decided to freelance for a few different companies. It was the best of both worlds. I could photograph weddings and do what I loved without all the other time consuming stuff that comes along with it, things like, contracts, marketing, meeting with people, editing photos and running a company. These are all things I loved doing, but just couldn’t focus on it with a newborn.
I met Mike while shooting my very first wedding for one the companies I was freelancing for. He was the videographer and I was the photographer. This company had multiple photographers and videographers for people to choose from and over time Mike and I realized we were always getting picked by the same brides. Over the course of 4 years we worked many weddings together, sometimes as single shooters and we would always joke and say, if we had our own company we wouldn’t be doing this alone right now…. If we had our own company, we would have an assistant to help with this shot, or if we had our own company we would never have told this couple this could be done in 6 hours when they clearly need 7! The list was endless of things we wanted to do differently. After going through this one to many times, I text Mike and said, do you want to get together and talk about starting our own company, like for real. And the rest is history!
There are many things we are proud of that sets us apart from other companies and we will talk about them all in future blogs. The one thing I do want to mention today is how our Revel Team consists of both our siblings! My sister used to shoot weddings with me but didn’t want to freelance with other companies so we didn’t work together for a few years. When I told her about Revel and the vision we had for the company, she was totally on board. Mike has a twin brother, Mark. Mike & Mark were shooting weddings together for their own company, True Class. They built an amazing business and had stellar reviews from all of their clients. The three of us were on the same page when we launched Revel. Revel Studios was the merge of True Class and Robin Manno Photography with Mark, Mike and myself as Co-Owners. It has been an amazing experience so far and we can’t wait to see where this year takes us!
